TJ Walker predicts how Donald Trump will perform at the first major Republican presidential debate in 2016 and what the media will say about it.
Chapters
The first major presidential debate of 2016 is happening this Thursday, the Fox debate for Republican candidates. Who's going to win and what's going to happen? So I'm recording this video to make my predictions. It is now Tuesday morning. It's more than 48 hours before the first Republican debate. Folks, I'm no Nostradamus. I don't see the future perfectly. But I have watched at this point hundreds and hundreds of political debates in my life and have been a huge fan of political debates ever since the 1970s. So, in fact, I well remember watching Jimmy Carter debate. So I am going to make some predictions and you can call me on it after the debate. You can watch this video afterwards and see how I did. Here's my prediction. Donald Trump is going to be the center of the stage. There's really no doubt about that. He's going to dominate this debate. How is he going to do it? He's going to do it by saying, this candidate is a dummy, this one's a fool, this one's stupid. He's going to do what Donald Trump does. Donald Trump is great at commanding attention on a stage when cameras are at him. He is great at attacking people more viciously, more bluntly than any traditional politician. The media is not going to be able to pass up that. They're not. So you're going to have a situation where there's the giant Donald with a giant head and everyone else is going to look small. There's no great bravery in that prediction. The next part of my prediction is that all of the pundits, immediately after the debate, we'll say that Donald Trump didn't act presidential, that this time he went so far. And Donald Trump is likely to say something like, well, as the first thing I'll do as president is go to Africa and hunt lions. I mean, he is that confident of himself that the normal rules don't apply. I'm not really suggesting he'll say that, but something like that, whether it's calling all Mexicans rapists, are saying we need to send back every immigrant except for hot women where they came from. He'll say something really, really obnoxious that pundits are going to say is beyond the pale, is disqualifying him. And I think that after the debate, there's going to be a strong consensus among pundits that Donald Trump failed miserably and that Scott Walker or someone else looked good. But now, here's the third part of my prediction. 24 hours later, with flash polls, it's going to show that people think Donald Trump won. His poll numbers are going to go up. Now, again, when you've got 10 candidates on a stage and 17 major candidates, just getting 10% puts you in first place. And certainly if you're above 20%, as Donald Trump is now in many polls, that puts you very comfortably in first place, even if 80% of the voters can't stand you. So those are my predictions. I could be wrong. Check back here at this channel after the debate and post your comments as well. I'd like to hear from your predictions. If you're watching this before the debate, after the debate, tell me who you think won, lost, looked good, and didn't look good.
