Foreign it's about 3am Eastern time. I am in Budapest getting ready to fly on Thanksgiving morning. I am in Budapest about to fly to Zurich and then on my way back to New York, hope to be back in time for a nice Thanksgiving dinner feast with family and friends. A lot of advice out there these days on how to talk to family members at the Thanksgiving dinner table during this time of political strife. And I gotta tell you, I don't have any advice for you on that. You're on your own there. I just want to give a quick couple of tips on how to give a toast at Thanksgiving dinner. It should be a fun time, a festive time, but time to give thanks. You may be even a little uncomfortable with some distant relatives there, maybe a few more people than you're used to speaking to at a table. Here's my advice. Don't try to be extra witty, funny. Don't memorize something. Don't write out a script. Just think of one or two positive things to say that you're thankful for, things you want to say about others at the table that you're thankful for. Look at them bring hold up your glass and toast them. Just be happy. Be fun. Look at people say what you're thankful for, keep it relatively brief and toast in their honor. Don't worry about all the particular rules about oh, you should never toast with water. There's a lot of little picky rules out there about toasting. I think you could ignore most of them. It's just an opportunity to enjoy, enjoy life, to celebrate and have fun. Happy Thanksgiving.
