What sort of makeup do you need for television? Now, first of all, some of you men out there maybe say, I don't wear makeup. We'll get over it. Every news anchor, every movie star, TV star is wearing makeup. If you don't wear makeup and you're on video, you're going to stand out. It's like wearing a bathing suit at a black tie event or wearing a tuxedo at a pool party. You're going to stand out. Here's the problem. The bright lights, the camera, it's going to magnify flaws you have. It's going to make you look oily. Shiny imperfections jump out more. So here's all you really need. For the basics, I recommend that you get a mosaic powder. That's just a fancy name for a bunch of different colors of powder. You can get it at any drugstore. Forgive me. Itunes, audience, I'm going to hold this up now to the YouTube and video audience. This is just powder, a little compact with a lot of different colors. I take a brush, I swirl it around and I go heavily over my nose. Because anyone's nose tends to shine when you're under a bright light. And what you want to do is just minimize the shade. Now, for any man or, I guess, woman, if your hair is dramatically thinning, putting powder on the top of your head, as I'm doing, is a good thing. It's not going to make you look like you have a thick head of hair, but it will minimize the shine from your scalp and just direct less attention. So that's really all you have to do. It also will minimize some of the blemishes and it will also minimize five o' clock shadow if you happen to be clean shaven these days, that's not really very fashionable to be clean shaven. It will also minimize some of the dark shadows under your eyes, if you have any. You can certainly get a lot fancier than that. A higher percent. I'm trying not to be sexist here, but it's just a fact. A higher percentage of women are used to wearing makeup. So you may feel like you're comfortable here. Just be careful about shiny lipstick. Rouges can be magnified on screen. It becomes much more dominant. So if you do wear a lot of makeup, try to go a little bit more on the subtle side and you should be in good shape. But if Nothing else, just 30 seconds of mosaic powder that doesn't change the color of your skin. You don't want to be darker. You don't want to look like you have a gray tan all of a sudden. You don't want to be paler. You just want it to blend in and remove the shine.
