Here's a question that's posed T.J. i'm not shy. I'm outgoing. And yet I still can't seem to pass my public speaking class. What do I do? I don't know how your instructor is teaching things I do recommend in my own teachings. Practice your speech on video. Narrow your messages down to a handful. Don't read text if you're using PowerPoint. Don't use bullet points. Have an interesting story for each one. Practice on video until you love how you're coming across. If you do that, you're going to give a great presentation. Now, there's always the rare chance that you have some quirky public speaking instructor who just wants you to read or use a teleprompter in a certain way that makes no sense. If that's the situation, I would say don't worry about this course. Worry about being a great speaker for the rest of your life and improving continually. Don't forget Martin Luther King Jr. Who gave the famous I have a Dream speech in the 1960s in Washington, D.C. went down in history as giving, at least in the English speaking language, the best speech of the 20th century. He got the grade of C, pure average grade in his public speaking class in college. So don't worry if you get one bad grade. But do focus on practicing on video and being interesting and you'll be great.
