Short excerpt from a TJ Walker live-stream ("The Habit Influencer"). Walker emphasizes that media training must include repeated on-camera practice until the speaker genuinely likes their recorded performance; he estimates many people need 5–10 video rehearsals and warns stopping after one can be counterproductive because people fixate on flaws.

ITS 2015. What is the number one thing people still don't get when it comes to media training? Now these days, most PR practitioners, most media trainers of course, practice with video. But here's the one thing I consistently see people leave out. It's not enough to practice rehearse a video, an interview on video, of course you have to do that. But the whole key to the video is you've got to keep doing it until you like what you see and you get through an interview that no matter where it's edited, no matter what sound bite is taken out, you're still happy with it. Now for most people, in my experience that takes 5, 6, 7, 8, sometimes 10 practices on video. If you stop after one quite often that does more damage than good because people see what they don't like, they fixate on the failures, they don't fixate on what works and that is counterproductive. So please remember, practice on video until you like what you see.
