TJ WALKER - THE HABIT INFLUENCER - Personal Development | LIVE STREAM

What is the one absolutely indispensable piece of technology? A gadget that's going to dramatically improve your public speaking. It's not the PowerPoint slide, it's not remote controls, it's not a teleprompter. It is, in fact, this, a good old fashioned piece of paper. Notes. These are all the notes I need for a one hour speech. It's listed, numbered, large font. I can read it without putting my glasses on. The secret to notes is that you need to keep them on one page. That way you're not flipping and turning and shuffling them up. You need to have a large font. That way you don't have to pick it up and look at it and put on glasses. Now here's a real advanced tip. It's going to cost you three times as much as far as your technology investment. But here it is. Instead of having a single sheet of notes, do what I do have three identical pieces of paper with your notes on it. I scatter them throughout the room where I'm going to speak. Front, back, a table on the side where the glass of water is. That way I can walk around the room, not be stuck in one place, certainly not get stuck behind the lectern. And I can appear to be just having a conversation with people. This works for PowerPoint or not using PowerPoint. Folks, I love technology, video cameras, the Internet, all that. But this little piece of technology has never betrayed me. It's never complained about format issues, electricity needs. It's never needed to be restarted. So this should be the very first piece of technology you invest in for any speech. There's no shame with using notes as long as you use them the right way. I'm TJ Walker. Thanks for joining me.
