Short live-stream segment by TJ Walker offering media-training advice: when speaking to reporters, avoid telling people what you aren't doing (negative denials). Instead, pivot to state what you are doing (positive framing) so reporters quote constructive messages. The clip ends with the speaker identifying himself as a media-trainer and offering a free book and workshop details on his website.

Media training tip of the day. When talking to reporters, don't waste valuable time telling people what you aren't doing. Don't tell people. We're not commenting on that. I can't comment on that. We're not focused on that today. Our concern isn't the environmental destruction here. We're not apologizing yet. Don't tell people what you aren't doing. Quite often a reporter will say, well, are you doing X? The national the rational, logical, linear reaction to that is to say, well, no, we're not doing X. Actually, we're doing Y. I understand why you say it that way. That's how you've been talking your whole life. You're showing the reporter, hey, I'm listening to you. I'm being responsive to you. I'm being respectful to you. Unfortunately, the only quote in the story is then we're not doing X. I can't comment on this. I'm not guilty of this. It's something entirely negative. And if that's what happens, you can blame the reporter. Nobody cares. It's not the reporter's fault. The reporter didn't put words in your mouth. You put your own words in your mouth. So the solution is never tell people what you aren't doing. Instead, tell people what you are doing. Focus on what you can say what you are doing. Do that and you're not going to be quoted saying something negative, defensive and off putting. Tell people what you are doing. They will deduce you're not doing these other things.
