This is a short live-stream by TJ Walker ("The Habit Influencer") advising speakers to cultivate regular, self-controlled opportunities to present where there is no gatekeeper (e.g., personal podcast, YouTube, Facebook Live) rather than relying only on gatekept events. He contrasts gatekeeper-controlled speaking slots (trade associations, corporate conventions, political conventions) with self-published channels and recommends selecting a speaking frequency (daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly) — with weekly suggested for ambitious people — so skills and confidence stay sharp. The talk closes with a CTA to visit Mediatrainingworldwide.com for free books and further tips.

Today's topic Find your non gatekeeper speaking frequency.
What the world am I talking about Now?
Everyone can have opportunities to give presentations.
From time to time.
Typically there's a gatekeeper if you're a professional speaker.
It is the meeting planner of that trade association that calls you a year.
In advance and books and schedules you.
If it is within your own corporation or your industry. Some person in charge of the national.
Sales convention each year may decide who speaks.
And there's a gatekeeper there.
You can't necessarily control that.
But what you can control these days are all the opportunities where you can speak.
Where there's no gatekeeper, that can mean with your own podcast, that can mean with your own video on YouTube, it can mean your own live video on Facebook.
There's so many opportunities for speaking out.
To the world these days.
And of course, if it's a gatekeeper.
Opportunity, you're asked to speak at a national political convention to accept their nomination. The gatekeepers were all the voters in.
The primaries to get you there.
That's obviously going to be a huge opportunity.
But my recommendation is is figure out.
Some frequency you want to do for.
Your speaking opportunities where there's no gatekeeper. Now, I've done podcasting before and some.
Of you were nice enough to listen.
To my podcast for a whole variety of reasons.
I just determined that that wasn't the.
Best format for what I do.
I have written columns sometimes seven days.
A week for years, and I determined.
That wasn't really my best format with what I do. Although I now have these videos I do turned into text columns, I have.
Someone else do that. What I decided for me, the best thing is if I have one video.
Every day, I don't record them every day, but I'm going to have an output every day.
I'm going to be getting feedback from you every day.
You don't have to do it every day.
Could be once a week, could be.
Once a month, could be once a quarter.
But I would recommend for those of.
You ambitious, try to do something at.
Least once a week.
If you wait once a quarter or.
Once a year, all your confidence from your speaking abilities fade away.
You forget about it, becomes a distant memory.
Let's face it, it's a lot easier.
To write or drive a car if.
You do it every day versus only doing it once every three years. Speaking is no different.
So I would recommend to you come.
Up with a frequency you're comfortable with.
For when you're going to speak, even.
When nobody has invited you.
I'm TJ Walker I teach people how.
To speak more effectively whether they're invited.
Or whether they've decided to do it.
Themselves on their own YouTube or Facebook video. If you want more tips on how.
To be a better communicator, go to.
