What are the four most essential body.
Language tips when it comes to being a better speaker, a better presenter? Well, here they are.
Number one, really look at your audience. How many times have you been in.
A conference somewhere, meeting, and the person is reading off a screen, reading bullet points. You could stand up, light your hair on fire. The speaker would never notice when they're actually reading a piece of paper or.
Script or a computer screen.
Or the worst, these days, people reading off notes on their cell phone, it's.
Just an instant turn off and the.
Speaker is telling the audience, I don't really care about you. I didn't bother preparing.
So that's the first tip.
Really look at people in the audience when you speak. Second big body language tip, move your hands. All of us, when we are comfortable.
Talking about something we care about, move our hands.
So when you hold your hands, freeze.
Your hands hold pencils, pens. You freeze your body language. You freeze your hands.
Your arms get frozen.
That often gets tension up in your neck.
Your voice becomes frozen and flattened, monotone.
So that's the second big body language tip. Move your hands.
Everyone's worried about, oh, I moved my hands.
Too much baloney, Waste of time, worry. What you should be worried about is free freezing your hands and looking stiff, cold, nervous, uncomfortable.
The third big body language tip, move your body.
Sounds obvious, but so many people want.
To grab a lectern or stand in a way they think is professional, where they don't make any mistakes and nothing's moving but their lips, but they look.
Like they're in a hostage video.
So you want to move your body.
The fourth tip, the final tip. There's some controversy about this.
Some of you will disagree, but walk. Now, I'm not talking about when you're.
Doing a little video like this, and it's a narrow focus on you.
But if you're in front of people giving an actual speech or presentation in.
Front of a live audience, move around the room.
As long as you're not pacing nervously or moving too consistently or moving every second, your movement will make you look.
More comfortable, more confident, more relaxed, more authoritative.
The whole key to movement is it.
Seems purposeful and that you occasionally stop.
So it's not continuous movement.
There are times when you stop to pause or to make a point.
