TJ WALKER - THE HABIT INFLUENCER - Personal Development | LIVE STREAM

A short live-streamed talk by TJ Walker recommending a simple, free technique to overcome fear of public speaking: do short Facebook Live videos every day. He argues that frequent, unscripted speaking (even 30 seconds) normalizes the experience, reduces nervousness, and builds confidence; he cites his own experience of having made “more than 10,000 videos.”

I promise you this does not involve drugs, meditation, hypnosis, doing shots of booze. But if you want a simple, simple technique and it costs nothing. I'm not selling anything here, folks. But if you already have a Facebook account and you have a cell phone, then I promise you, you have a perfect tool right now to completely eliminate your fears of public speaking. What am I talking about? Talking about doing what I'm doing right now. Do a Facebook live video. But here's the catch. No, you don't want to hear this. Do it every day. Could be 30 seconds. Just talk about something you do, an area of expertise, something business related. If you're a business person or you're trying to advance your career, but you could be high school kid or a middle school kid, and just talk about what you did in school that day, summarizing a key point in an algebra class. Just the sheer act of speaking, knowing that a few of your friends might be watching is enough to give you composure. Because the more you talk, the more it becomes normal. It's harder. It's much, much harder to get nervous. Now, I don't have every single person love every speech I give, but I can tell you this. I don't get nervous. Why? Because I've done more than 10,000 videos, not all of them live, but in addition to many, many thousands of speeches and Talk show appearances. 10,000 videos. And when you speak regularly, knowing you can't pull your words back, it just makes the whole thing seem normal and you get more comfortable and confident. And by the way, if you do really, really mess up, you can always hit delete after the fact. Yeah, maybe a few friends saw it. So what? I make mistakes. It's not the mistakes that define us, it's what we do say occasionally that helps us, helps other people and is interesting. So follow that tip. If you really want to get over nervousness, just do your own live video every day. I appreciate you watching mine, but do your own video. Do it often enough, long enough, your fears will melt away.
