Former Governor Sarah Palin, back in the news. She sent out a tweet yesterday saying that she can keep an eye on Russia. Now this was picked up by a lot of people in the media. It's being talked about Facebook, Twitter and elsewhere. Why is this an effective tweet for getting attention? Well, Sarah Palin directly injects herself into the national debate on whether or not Russia unfairly got itself involved in trying to aid Donald Trump in the 2016 election. There's also a bit of humor and self mockery. Sarah Palin was famously mocked for saying she can see Russia from her back door. So it's a way for her to sort of wink at and acknowledge things that people have made fun of her for in the past. It's also a swipe at liberals and the media and people who are making a big deal out of Russia's involvement. She also is positioning herself, if she wants, for perhaps a top position in the Trump administration. Now, by all accounts, Sarah Palin isn't really interested in a cabinet position, but I think she certainly enjoys being talked about for a top position. So Sarah Palin, she might not be the best vice presidential candidate ever, but she does continue to remain relevant on the political scene because she knows how to capture attention on Facebook, on Twitter and elsewhere.
