TJ WALKER - THE HABIT INFLUENCER - Personal Development | LIVE STREAM

TJ Walker breaks down why simple product demos beat fancy slides. He points to Steve Jobs pulling the MacBook Air from an envelope as the gold standard: one concrete visual that sticks, not complex effects or bullet points.

Presentation to launch a product, you have at your disposal thousands of employees who can do fancy PowerPoints for you, can do all sorts of technical gizmos. You can have fireworks. What do you do? Well, if any of you saw him launch a new product a few years ago, his Air Mac, what did he do? Did he use a big PowerPoint? Did he put up a gigantic screen? No. He pulled out an envelope and said, how thin is this new Air Mac? On a stage in front of a thousand people, he pulls this dude thin Air Mac out below. What do you remember from that? You remember how thin it was? It was the power of the visual, the power of the example. And no matter how many PhD electronics engineers or all the fancy titles you have working for you, in a high tech era where people are used to more and more special effects, nothing will be a simple demonstration of something real. So anytime you're presenting to someone, don't forget that, don't over glitz it, don't over complicate it. Steve Jobs couldn't put up a gigantic slide. And with bullet points that said 1.8of an inch thick. How many of you would remember that? When you're presenting, anytime you can show something, it's so much more powerful than just telling people. If you do that, you'll be much more memorable. It's not about technology, although I love technology. I'm glad we have a microphone for that. I won't have to shout out, but anytime you can get a specific concrete example, you'll be more powerful.
