Excerpt from a TJ Walker live stream on personal development (June 9, 2008). Walker argues that effective leaders provide certainty in uncertain times; he cites a forceful wartime quote from Winston Churchill and comments that Churchill models the absolute, decisive language people expect from leaders.

Leaders know that people want certainty. In an uncertain world, too many people say, well, maybe this will happen, or maybe that sometimes you need to be absolute.
What kind of a people do they think we are? Is it possible they do not realize that we shall never cease to persevere against them until they have been taught a lesson which they and the world will never forget?
Churchill is never wishy washy. He's not afraid to state things with absolute certainty. That's what people look for in a leader.
