This video is a critique of one of my students videos sent to me on YouTube. Rick, thanks for sharing it. You do many things well in your video. You come across as natural, believable, speaking speed is fine, easy to understand. Voice sounds pleasant. You don't sound memorized or canned. You sound conversational. You're doing many, many things well. Two very specific things where I think you can improve. For starters, your head is just too frozen. Your voice is good, your conversational quality is good. Your volume is good. But can you see how my head is sort of frozen now? It makes me look like I'm not relaxed. It's important to continue moving your head when you speak. All of us move our heads when we speak. So I need you to practice actually moving it left, right and not just staying frozen. Now, I don't think you were using a teleprompter or a script, but if you were, you've still got to practice moving your head. The second thing, the stripes jump around and look a little fuzzy. They can be distracting. I wouldn't wear stripes in your shirt. Now, my jacket has pinstripes, but they're so subtle they tend not to dance around or distract or get fuzzy. So those are the two main things I'd like you to work on. By the way, for those of you joining us, video and you're not Rick, what he's just done is crucial if you want to get better. If you want to improve your public speaking skills, your media skills, create a video of yourself speaking and put it out there for other people to critique. Give it to colleagues. I wouldn't necessarily give it to family members, but give it to people you respect who aren't in your immediate family. You can also post it here on this YouTube channel. You can send me a link through the connection on the YouTube channel here or on any of the online platforms where I train, whether it's at mediatrainingworldwide.com or on udemy.com thanks.
