Two big communication lessons for today. The first one is always try to refine any presentation, really any product you're creating. In order to do that, you need to first share a first draft with a close knit group of people who like you, trust you, know you can give you some honest feedback. In fact, this video right now is a result of that. I did a similar video to this yesterday for my online course students, but I did it as a Facebook live, holding my cell phone, walking around my backyard. Now, some people liked it, but some people wrote and said, tj, we're used to higher video quality from you. We would rather not see you walking around with the camera shaky. So that's why I'm doing this. So I try to actually practice what I preach. I shared the first draft of this message with one group of students. Now I'm sharing it with you and a larger group of students and a larger audience hoping to refine it. The second big lesson for this week is it's important to always expand to go beyond your comfort zone. I've been speaking on public speaking and media training for decades. I like it, I think I'm good at it. I get a lot of positive feedback from you and others that I'm good at it. But still, you don't want to get into a rut. You want to challenge yourself. That's why I challenge myself too. Now I have a new course on a different subject that I have just launched. And I do this in part because I think I have some interesting insights to share to the world on personal development. In part, I want to grow myself. I want to test myself as a speaker, as a communicator, as a presenter and thinker. So that's why I'm doing that. So that is my second big piece of advice to you. Don't just stick to the tried and true when it comes to your speaking. Look for growth. Look for new areas where you can speak out, where your audience can learn more from you and you can learn more in the process. By the way, if you're interested, you can take a look. It'll be available for about a week. A free promo into this course I'm talking about, so you can check it out below in the description of this video. I'm TJ Walker. Thanks for spending a few minutes with me. If you have any questions that you'd like me to address in future videos here, just post them here or send me an email.
