It's getting easier and easier to lure people in. Investors, business partners, prospective employers through the use of technology. But you know what? You still have to talk to them. Here's the problem. People are fascinated by technology. Hey, I am too. And there's an app for this, there's a website for that. Whether it's LinkedIn professionally or socially, people are using match.com, kettle of fish, Tinder, all sorts of applications to connect with people, to build that funnel of people who will talk to you. But then there's a huge breakdown. Once someone requests that business plan and wants to meet with you, or once someone wants to meet with you for coffee, you have to talk to them. And that's where most people are not getting better and better. They're not polishing their skills. Most big deals in life, whether it's securing new funding for a business, getting an important job, finding a spouse, it's not done all electronically. You have to do it in face, face to face, by talking to people. And unfortunately, many people are awful. Face it. And I'm happily married. But we all have single friends who spend five hours a day. They're on Tinder, they're on Match, they're on Kettle, they're on all these sites, and yet they never have a second date. Sometimes they don't even get a first date because they don't know how to talk to people. So, sure, learn Twitter, learn Pinterest and Instagram.
