It's time for the public speaking tip of the day. Here's the tip. Give yourself a quota. Could be once a month, once a week, or once a day. But I want you to give yourself a quota and stick to it. And here's what I want you to do. Create a YouTube video of yourself speaking about something. Your business, your area of expertise, your passion, your politics, whatever it is that you care about. Speak. And you don't have to have fancy lighting or a backdrop. It could just be you holding your cell phone. But speak and watch it. Put it up for the world to see. Now, I think the more often you do it, the better. I try to do it at least every day, but it could be just once a week. It could be just once a month, but stick to it, no matter what. If you give yourself the deadline, you will. And I guarantee you, if you really do this on a regular basis, even if it's just once a month, and you watch yourself and you expose the video to the whole world through YouTube, put it on your Facebook channel, you will be a public speaker, certainly within a year, most likely within six months. You can't help but get better. Now, I'd certainly love for you to hire me for a day of very expensive media and presentation training, but you don't have to. If you just use tools that are available to you already, that you already own, it's essentially free. So please don't be one of these people who says, I wanna coulda, shoulda, woulda done a YouTube video and never get around to it. Give yourself a deadline. Put it on your calendar. Now, make it a weekly, a daily, or a monthly, but put it on your calendar and then put those videos of you speaking up. Don't worry about graphics, special effects, scripting, just speak. That will improve your speaking dramatically.
