What are some tips to zap your butterflies when speaking in public? Easiest tip of all, be interesting. The biggest problem most speakers have is they're boring. They're doing a data dump. It's abstract. It's a whole lot of facts. They have butterflies in their stomach because they're feeling like, oh gosh, this is embarrassing. I'm going to bore people and waste their time. Well, the solution isn't to feel better about boring people and wasting their time. The solution is have something interesting and useful to say to people. If you do that, you'll be in good shape. You should listen to the butterflies in your stomach. They're telling you something valid. They may be telling you that your speech is boring and awful and uninteresting. Listen to that. But here's the real time to listen to these butterflies when you're practicing in advance, when you're rehearsing in advance on video. If you are getting those butterflies when you're speaking in front of people and you're speaking your presentation for the first time, it's really too late to make it better. The only option you have at this point is to not show your butterflies and realize you may be feeling uncomfortable inside, but on the outside, as long as you don't rush your speech, as long as you look at people, as long as you pause at the right place, have a little smile. No one will have any idea you have butterflies in your stomach.
