This is Mike Baco for Media Training Insider and the Daily national wrapping up the SAG Awards. SAG Awards just ending and who had the best speeches of the night. This is the surefire indicator, a good prelude for who may win coming up in the Oscars in February, the end of the month in February. The big winner from tonight, there's only one big winner and that's Viola Davis. She gave the best speech of the night, bar none. Bringing in emotion, humor, capturing the entire moment. A lot of times when people get up there and win, they have this idea that they shouldn't prepare a speech, they shouldn't be ready for the moment. We've certainly seen this in award shows past. Kate Winslet, Meryl Streep, perennial winners not prepared to give an award winning speech. Not the case with Viola Davis. She came out with emotion, capturing the moment, thanking Cicely Tyson in the audience, talking about how she was the inspiration to get into acting and then talking about tough times in her career and again pointing to the audience, talking about Meryl Streep, also mentioning a school in Rhode island, providing them with inspiration with her win. It really touched on all the great hallmarks of what make for a great speech and you could take these thoughts and ideas into your normal everyday presentations, really interacting and engaging the audience. Other big winners of the night I thought Christopher Plummer gave a great heartfelt speech. Certainly he's now making the awards winning circle of having won for his role in Beginners and then also Alec Baldwin. When does he not give a good performance? He was honored with his sixth straight SAG Award for best Actor in a comedy and he gave a great speech, humor, self deprecating and he even had a plug at the very end for some of the work that he did with the SAG Foundation. So that's wrapping up the SAG Awards. Check back@dailynational.com and media training Insider for an Oscar preview analysis as well as analysis of all the speeches afterwards.
