What are alternatives to Toastmasters? Toastmasters, a great group where people get together often once a week and speak and give feedback to others. And it's just about speaking. There's no other agenda in the group. But if you're looking for an alternative, I would say any professional organization that you could join, look for opportunities to speak. Look for opportunities to be a committee or subcommittee chairperson where you have to run a meeting, ask questions in any you ever go to or any conference. But let me tell you a real inside secret. Let's say you want to get better at speaking. But the idea of driving across town, spending three hours away from your family on a Tuesday night to go to a Toastmasters just isn't appealing. You can get the same benefit quite often in five minutes without leaving home. And it is to simply record yourself speaking, presenting on a video. Look at it, figure out what you like, what you don't like. You want to take it up a notch. Post the video on YouTube or your Facebook page or a Facebook group and ask people for feedback. That's a great way. That scares some people, but it's a great way of improving your speaking.
