So who won last night's Fox News Republican debate? Well, the clear winner this time around has to be Mitt Romney, not because of the great performance that he put on. Again, slow and steady by Romney won it this time, but he showed a lot more humility this time around. If you remember the last debate over the weekend trying to offer Rick Perry A $10,000 bet, certainly out of touch with everything that's going on in America right now. Is the balloon deflated on Newt Gingrich. That's what we're going to have to look at over the next few days and weeks as we head into the caucuses in the beginning of the year in January, Gingrich kept on getting poked and prodded by all the other participants in the debate. And will it deflate some of his luster? Some of his poll numbers certainly didn't do himself any favors when he defended the taking money from mortgage lenders, taking money almost greedily, taking money, all that he could grab when he was in the private sector doing consulting work. He was needled by Ron Paul. He was needled by Michele Bachmann. Certainly Mitt Romney did his task as well. So again, Gingrich is in the long line of Michele Bachmann being the frontrunner, Michele Bachmann getting kneeled and put down during debates, and then we see poll numbers going down by her. She gets exposed. Certainly the same thing happened with Herman Cain. He's now out of the race for reasons that are political but also personal. And then of course, there's Rick Perry, the biggest crash and burn of this debate season. I don't think it'll be the same situation for Newt Gingrich. He has too much knowledge of the political process. He has, quite frankly, a big enough lead to sustain some of these pokes and prods that he's getting in this debate process. And now as we lead up to more primaries, we're going to certainly see more negative ads coming his way. I don't think he acquitted himself too well during this last debate. I think Romney comes out on top because again, he put on a typical Romney performance. But adding in a dash of humility certainly would go a long way considering what he did during the last debate. Offering a $10,000 bet. A little bit out of touch for Romney, but he showed himself to be someone that learns from his mistakes and definitely put on a better debate for performance this time around. So Mitt Romney gets the nod. Newt Gingrich. It'll be interesting to see what his poll numbers show as we head into the holiday season and the end of the year.
