TJ WALKER - THE HABIT INFLUENCER - Personal Development | LIVE STREAM

TJ Walker presents a short instructional livestream on overcoming fear of public speaking. He argues that the fear can be overcome quickly—he claims 'in eight hours'—by repeatedly recording short speeches on video, reviewing them, listing what you like and dislike, and then eliminating one disliked behavior at a time until you feel confident. He closes with a note about upcoming in-person workshops and a social link.

Folks, I'm not a psychologist or a psychiatrist. I'm not here to solve your innermost problems that started in childhood. But I am an expert on one particular problem. Fear of public speaking. I'm here to tell you, if you have a fear of public speaking, it doesn't take months, years, decades to get over this fear. You can get over this fear in eight hours. I helped many, many people, thousands of people all over the globe do this. The way to do it is you have to practice out loud on video. Look at it. That alone won't help. That'll actually make you worse if you stop right there. You have to look at it and write down a list of everything you like, even if it's a short list. And you have to write down the list of everything you don't like. And maybe you don't like that you speak too quickly and you hate your voice and you lick your lip. You can have a list of 50 things, but then there's a set process. Speak again on video and try to eliminate just one thing you don't like. Watch it again and ask yourself, did you eliminate just that one thing? If not, try it again and try to eliminate that one thing. If you did eliminate that one thing and you still have 49 things to go, do it again. Focus on just one thing. Now, if you're doing this in a three minute speech or two minute speech, we're not talking about a massive amount of time. You record it for two minutes, you watch in two minutes, that's four minutes. You do it again, review it again, that's eight minutes. So when I say eight hours, you might not even need that much time. Now, the problem most people have who claim to have a fear of public speaking is they've never done this. And if you didn't know to do it, that's understandable. But now you know, so you don't have an excuse if you just say, well, I have a fear of public speaking. But you never practice on video. You never try to fix one thing at a time. Then how are you going to get better? If I tell you, you know what, I can't add or subtract and I can't count to 10. And you say, well, teacher, I'd like to help you. Let's sit down, let's look at this number. This is one, and that's two. Let's practice counting. I just said, well, I don't want to do that. Would you say I have a fear of basic math, or would you say I'm just Unwilling to learn. You probably have very little patience for presuming I don't have dyslexia or other problems that are preventing me from seeing the numbers, but assuming that I have the ability to read. You could teach me how to count and do simple addition, but it's not going to work if I just refuse to do the basic steps. I'm here to tell you anyone can get over their fear of public speaking if you follow these basic steps. And the steps are figure out what you want to say, talk for a couple of minutes, record it, watch it, figure out what you like, what you don't like. Eliminate one thing at a time, do it again, keep doing it until you can look at a video and find yourself interesting and to the point where you like how you're coming across. Once you get to that point, if you know you're coming across your very best and it's interesting and it's memorable, becomes virtually impossible to fear public speaking. Please give it a try. Don't tell yourself that it's impossible. Whether it's going to take years, you can do it in eight hours. Now I do it in my workshops all the time, which by the way, we're about to start a whole new regular system of in person workshops here, so stay tuned for that. But whether you work with me or not, you can do this on your own. You can do it in less than one eight hour segment. I'm TJ Walker. Thanks for joining me. Please like this page TJ.
