TJ WALKER - THE HABIT INFLUENCER - Personal Development | LIVE STREAM

TJ Walker responds to Bernie Sanders announcing his 2016 presidential run, arguing the independent socialist senator from Vermont has no real shot at the Democratic primary because he isn't actually a Democrat. Walker criticizes Sanders' communication style and predicts the campaign will go nowhere, though he acknowledges Sanders may have decent policy ideas.

Bernie Sanders, the socialist and independent senator from Vermont, announced over the last few days that he's running for president. What does this mean? So Bernie Sanders is running for the Democratic nomination for president, and it's getting teeny, tiny mentions in news coverage. Is this fair? Overall, I would say yes, because I don't think the American people, voters, certainly Democratic voters, take Bernie Sanders seriously. Doesn't mean he doesn't have a lot of good ideas, doesn't mean perhaps a lot of his ideas aren't better than Hillary Clinton. But as a presidential candidate, it's a bit of a joke. Now you can say, well, he's a member of the United States Senate. Doesn't that make him instantly credible? After all, Barack Obama, jfk, they were just senators with less tenure in Washington than Bernie Sanders. Here's the problem. He's not a Democrat. He hasn't run for public office as a Democrat. So you can't. Unless you're Dwight D. Eisenhower and you've won a major war and no one really knows your party affiliation. You can't simply be active in public life under one party and one label and then try to get the nomination for a party of a different party. It just doesn't work like that. You know, you can't be Al Sharpton and run for the GOP nomination for president and expect anyone to take you seriously. Now, beyond that, Bernie Sanders as a communicator has serious flaws. Now, I'm not suggesting every single politician has to look and sound like a Kendall or like Mitt Romney or Barack Obama, but it would be hard, I'd be hard pressed to find somebody who conveys himself with his image, style, hairstyle, accent, who would be less appealing to the American public than Bernie Sanders. And believe me, I'm very sympathetic to a lot of his issues, positions. But for all those reasons, he doesn't have the standing, he doesn't have the communication skills. I predict his candidacy goes absolutely nowhere. Now, is there a chance in some state, some primary, that he's able to position himself to the media, that if he gets more than 10%, it's seen as a repudiation or a humiliation to Hillary? It's possible, but it's just completely irrelevant. I'm TJ Walker. Post your comments.
