So what do you do if you have to give an impromptu speech presentation briefing and you only have one minute to prepare? Here's my advice. If you only have 1 minute, practice your opening 30 seconds of your presentation and record it on your cell phone. Just the first 30 seconds. Then watch. It only takes 30 seconds because you only recorded 30 seconds. Total amount of time, 60 seconds. That's one minute. Now, you'll be more confident, a little more relaxed for that opening. You'll nail the opening, which is important for any speech, and it will be your second draft of delivering the opening, the second draft of most things better than the first. Now, you can come up with all sorts of excuses about why you don't have a full day to rehearse or even two hours. But if you're telling me that you don't even have 60 seconds to rehearse, you're lying to yourself.
