Bad public speaking Tip of the day I don't have a lot of time, so I'm going to go through this very, very quickly. We don't have extra time today. We're running late and we got to make up some time. So I'm going to skip the first two points and blah, blah, blah. Folks, this is a waste of time. Anytime you have a shortage of time, don't make it worse by talking about time. Don't talk about the fact that you have less time than you need. Don't talk faster because people can't really process information faster. Just speak. Use your normal speaking tone and it's going to be up to you to narrow the focus. If you thought you had a half an hour and there were five main points you want to cover and now you have 10 minutes, you're far better off covering two or three points. Continue to give examples, case studies, stories. If people want the rest, you can email it. You can meet them afterwards. You can answer questions out by the hallway. Don't rush, don't apologize, don't waste time. Don't make excuses. Just use every second that you have to give value to your audience. Don't talk about the time at all. I'm TJ Walker.
