Presidential candidate Jeb Bush has found his jawline thanks to the Paleo diet. Okay, folks, I know I'm going to get criticism for this video and in the column, but I call them like I see them, and here are the basic facts. Fact number one, Jeb Bush has lost a bunch of weight lately. It looks by most counts that he's lost 20 to 30 pounds. He's giving credit to this Paleo diet he's on, and that involves lots of meat, vegetables, don't ask. But hey, it's working for him. Now, why is this significant? Again, I'm not telling you this because I think it should be this way, but because it is. Since the advent of television and modern presidential campaigns, and 52 is really the first time it was serious. There may have been a couple at 48, but 52 was the first major presidential race. Ever since TV has come on the scene, the American people have shown they're superficial. Americans apparently do not want to look at a TV set and having a president stare out at them who's fat, who's jolly, who has no jawline. And I think Jeb Bush was smart to realize that he was not obese. But Jeb Bush didn't have a jawline. I don't know how else to describe it. And folks, from the right angle, you could say I don't either. But hey, I'm not running for president. Jeb Bush had just enough weight on him where the head and the neck are all sort of the same width, and you don't actually see a jawline. And in my professional opinion, that is disastrous for a presidential candidate. Jeb Bush has solved the problem. He's taken the weight off. He looks much fitter, more vigorous, and he looks like what people think a president should look like. Now, again, that viewpoint has expanded. Ten years ago, a lot of people thought someone like Barack Obama didn't look like a president. Three years from now. A lot of people may laugh at the idea of a woman not looking like a president in some people's minds, because we may in fact have a woman president. But the one barrier I haven't seen crossed is apparently the prejudice American voters have against fat, heavy, obese presidential candidates. And rather than fight that perception, I think Jeb Bush did the smart thing. He took the pounds off, he looks better. And is that going to necessarily win him the whole election? No, but it can make a difference. A few votes here and there. And as anyone from Florida can tell you, a few votes is all that takes to really sway an election. Sometimes so Jeb Bush may have just helped himself more by taking off those pounds than an extra hundred million in a super pac.
