TJ Walker (YouTube, June 10, 2025) comments on escalating political tensions in Los Angeles after President Trump ordered National Guard deployment and suggested mass arrests. Walker reports Trump said Governor Newsom "should be arrested," criticizing Newsom for running for governor and for poor performance. Walker frames these actions as unprecedented in recent U.S. practice, compares them to authoritarian precedents (Putin, Saddam Hussein, 1930s European fascists), and warns this sends a message from Washington that the U.S. is moving toward authoritarianism.

What's really going on in Los Angeles right now, and why should you care? President Trump Santa an ice to do mass arrests and it caused a lot of protests. Then he brought in the National Guard. This is opposite of what's been done for the last half century in the United States, doing it against the wishes of the governor. The governor protested. Trump responded by saying Governor Newsom should be arrested. When asked why, he said, quote, I think his primary crime is that he ran for governor because he's done such a terrible job. In other words, it's because you are a member of a political party and I don't like you. Now, there is precedence for this, but the precedent is Putin with Saddam Hussein and with various fascist leaders in Europe in the 1930s. There's a reason people across the political spectrum in the United States are very scared right now. This is sending a message from Washington that this is an authoritarian regime. And that's just a polite, fancy way of saying an evil dictatorship.
