Ultimize. One of the biggest advantages you can create is understanding your industry better than others. Most people do this slowly. They read random articles, they pick up bits and pieces over time. AI allows you to accelerate this process dramatically. Let me show you exactly how. Start by asking, "AI, explain my industry in simple terms." For example, explain the digital marketing industry in plain English. Now you have a foundation. It may be obvious to you if you've been working in the industry, but sometimes you may miss some of the nuances. I remember right out of college, I was applying to public relations firms and advertising agencies. I really didn't know the difference at the time. AI would have been helpful to me. It wasn't available back then. It is now available to you. Next, ask, what are the biggest trends in my industry right now? AI might mention things like short-form video or AI-driven advertising if we are again focusing on a marketing job. Now you go deeper. Ask, how are companies actually using AI in this industry? Now you start seeing real applications. Let's make this concrete. If you're interested in healthcare, ask how hospitals are using AI to improve patient care. If you're interested in finance, ask how banks are using AI for fraud detection. If you're interested in marketing, ask how companies are using AI to create content. Now you're not just learning theory, you're learning what is actually happening. You can also paste in a news article and ask AI to summarize it, then ask, what does this mean for someone entering this field? Now you're connecting information to your career. Another example, you ask, what skills are becoming more valuable in this industry today? Now you know where to focus your development. Your exercise is simple and specific. Pick one industry you're interested in, ask 10 questions about it, and it could be the industry you're working in right now. Then ask 5 follow-up questions. Write down 3 insights you did not know before, because knowledge itself is not just power. Relevant knowledge applied at the right time, that's power.
