Stop telling yourself I don't have time to make social media videos. You do have time. Be honest with me. Now, there are times when you're not that motivated and you sort of Click around on LinkedIn for 20 minutes or times when you're scrolling the news. We all have certain down times. This is time you could use to share your wisdom, your insights with the world. I know you have insights right inside your head. You have clients, colleagues, associates call you, bump into you in the hallway and ask you a question. You answer it. Wow, thanks. Now, I understand anytime you answer someone's question and they get value out of it, you could make a video of that. It doesn't have to be funny. It doesn't have to be 30 minutes long. It doesn't have to be some gigantic production with lots of special effects. Simply give people good information, capture it on video and share it with the world. Share it on the platform that you use and more important, your customers, your colleagues, your clients, people in your industry use. What you'll find is not only does it not waste time making videos online and sharing it, it will actually save you time. You'll spend less time repeating yourself saying the same thing over and over again. Because people can watch your answers while you're sleeping, while you're in meetings, while you're doing other things. They'll already know what you're thinking. You'll save time because you won't have to spend as much time cold calling or marketing or hitting people up on LinkedIn. Please, please, please come give me an hour of your time to meet on Zoom to hear my pitch. You won't have to do that because people will be seeking you out, because you will be seen as a thought leader, someone they want to hear from. So be honest with yourself. We all delude ourselves from time to time. I'm as guilty as anyone else. But stop telling yourself you need more time to make videos. You don't have to write everything out and hire script writers, hire a director and getting a lighting expert. You could just pick up your phone, ask yourself a question and hit record and make a video and start sharing it today. Could you be more elaborate? Sure. Could you be fancier, have special effects music? Fine. But don't use that as an excuse to not make a social video this week and to share it with the world, or at least your world of people who care about what you do.
