Hi guys! So I am so, so, so, so, so, so, so excited to talk about our upcoming show Girls Will Be Girls at 54 Below on October 18th. Honestly, this show is a dream come true. For those of you who do not know, Girls Will Be Girls is the title of one of the songs that's in Oceanborne, which is a musical I wrote with my best friend. Girls Will Be Girls is a song that's about female empowerment and about finding your place and fighting for your space in a room. And about uplifting the women around you. It's just such an honor because there are articles coming out all the time about how underrepresented women are in our industry, and we are getting to have an incredibly uplifting night where we look at some of the amazing art that's being made by women right here, right now. So we would absolutely love it if you would come out and support us October 18th, 9:30 PM. It will be an incredibly inspirational night.
We don't have to look to a structure or get permission to use the power of our God-given right to create, to lead, to design, to craft. I'm passionate about female empowerment in Broadway and the greater theater community because I'm passionate about seeing you as a human being walk fully in your authentic self. Because when you light up the way, I feel that light. It makes me shine brighter. I too know that I can do the work I've been called to do. So shine on, sisters. Shine on.
I'm passionate about women's empowerment in the theatre because there are so many wonderful women doing such wonderful work as playwrights, composers, directors, musical directors, choreographers, designers of all kinds, backstage roles of all kinds, performers, and it would be a real pity if we couldn't do what we're passionate about and what we're good at, and so I think we need to bring these voices out.
Female empowerment is about having a voice in the room and a place at the table, and when you're there, making sure that there are other female artists on their journeys alongside you.
I hope you're as excited as I am listening to these incredible women talk about what their passion is. I am also very passionate about what I do— musical theater, everything that I do in this world— and I am so excited to be sharing the stage with these incredible women on October 18th at 9:30 PM. Please go to 54below.com before we sell out, get your tickets, and come join us for this amazing night.
