Tom Gellie tests five skis with different flex ratings to find which one reduces fatigue and feels smoothest. Overly stiff skis tire you out, especially later in the day, while the right flex for your weight and speed feels effortless. He's partnering with Carv to measure performance data and match feel to actual numbers.

So I've been testing different skis, and this is actually the 5th pair of skis I've tried. And now that I'm an ambassador for Original Plus Skis, they kind of— they make custom skis based on your metrics. So it's really cool to be able to try like the same ski essentially, but in a slightly longer length and a slightly different flex. And I think what I'm learning, like yesterday, the biggest thing I learned was when you get too stiff of a ski it just tires you out. It's just harder work, and that's like obvious, of course, but to really feel it was, was good. And, uh, what I love is with these Original Plus skis, you actually get a number on it. So yesterday I was on skis from, say, 320 flex rating, so longitudinal flex, up to like 400, and that ski was stiff as. It was just hard work, especially I tried at the very end of the day when my muscles were tired, so that didn't help either. But I think it's really interesting when you find a ski that flexes right for you, your weight, your sort of speed you ski at, your skill level, definitely feels really nice and you don't get as tired. I'm really looking forward later in the week with Carv, we're actually filming a video all about like ski selection and we're going to be, you know, not only putting feelings to it because, you know, I could get on the same ski you could get on and go, I love that, and I go, I hate that. Why is that? And, and I'm interested to find out, are there actually metrics behind it? So we've got Carv measuring it all, like what happens on the same run, same length, but you change the flex? Does the, uh, the metrics change? So really excited to kind of find out a bit more about that, continue my quest to find a ski that is like my favorite.
