Lift and dig your ski tip into the snow to steer and control turn size. Standing on one foot kills your ability to turn, so use both skis' edges for grip. The deeper you dig the tip, the tighter the turn.

Using the tip of the ski to help steer you. Lifting it up, digging it in to help you turn. Here, digging in here makes me turn. How much I dig it in and use it, I can turn more, this, or less. I can also do it with the tail. Somewhere helps me turn. Standing on one foot alone, nothing to turn, hard to turn. Dig the tip, easy. Hard to turn, dig it in, I can steer. So you can use the edge of the ski like this to get some grip and purchase to help steer you.
