Onyone Outerwear Feels Different

Ski coach Tom Gellie explains why Onyone outerwear stands out: the fabric drapes naturally and feels premium, pockets and a kangaroo pouch let you carry gear without bulk, and colored panels accentuate your shape on camera. He uses it for his coaching videos and says it avoids the unflattering silhouettes of other brands.

Hi, my name is Tom Gellie, and I'm a ski coach, and I coach people all around the world through video content. I'm also an Ognioné ambassador and have been for a number of years, and I wanted to speak to you about some of the features, functionality, and design of Ognioné outerwear that I think set them apart from other outerwear brands out there. There are 3 things I wanted to talk about in regards to O'Neill outerwear that I think set them apart from other brands. The first is fabrics and feel, then I think functionality, especially in terms of being a skier, and then the third is design. Now, the first thing I noticed when getting into my O'Neill outerwear was how nice the fabric feels. It's got a very soft, supple feeling to it, and it just hangs really well. It doesn't feel boxy like some outerwear can feel like, so it fits to your body in a really organic way, and that ends up coming out in video, photos, and how someone perceives me skiing down the hill as looking very natural. It really moves with the different parts of my body well and fits well without creating, like, boxed or pinned-in areas or funny shapes and creases because of this soft material that they use. It also has very good functionality in terms of the placement of pockets. Inside of here, I have a huge pocket that I can put cameras for filming. I can put even a small water bottle, and the amazing thing is those things don't look very bulky. So the way they've designed and the fit of the jacket, things are hidden really well. This freeride one even has a kangaroo pouch in here to place extra things for a long day out on the hill. Onyae have a long history of creating suits for skiers in technical ski competitions., and these skiers are judged on the shapes they create, the speed they ski at, but being a judged sport, how that skier looks is really critical, and so Ognionet have spent a long time looking at more advanced ski positions where there are not only movements made this way that are thought about, but also in the lateral plane. And so when a skier is wearing an Ognone outerwear suit and they come down the mountain, the beautiful shapes that we see in good skiing from higher edge angles are highlighted, and it makes the skier look more impressive, I think, and really stand out on the mountain. And so that's testament to Ognone looking at skating as a different sort of movement pattern sport to say hiking, where it's more just moving in this direction. And the suit moves so well for moguls, moving up and down, but also where I think it stands out is actually laterally. So in these positions, the suit fits really well. How it hangs off the shoulder, how it folds and creases in the jacket this way. Just makes the skier look really nice on the mountain. And as a coach teaching through video format, that for me is a huge bonus because people can see what I'm doing far more easily. In terms of the design, you'll notice Ognonei suits have specially placed panels of color and, and lines And that comes back to, again, the visual appeal of the skier coming down the mountain. So skiing, good skiing, there's flexion movements that change the length of the outside leg and the inside leg, where both arms are positioned. And so Ognier has thought about that, placed color, changed the paneling to accentuate how that skier looks and is seen on camera or just on the mountain.. And for me, I absolutely love that part because I know in certain suits in the past, like my Helly Hansen suit and, and others, I kind of blended into the mountain a bit, and there were funny shapes that got created when, when certain parts of my body were bent. That really is very different when I look at video of myself in, in O'Neill suits. Testament to O'Neill once again, they really think about, uh, not only the functionality but the design and look of the skier, so that skier, when others watch them, they feel really good. I feel very good in myself when I ski in Ognone outerwear. In summary, outerwear is really a personal preference to people, and what I think sets this brand apart from others are the things I talked about. The functionality in terms of skiing movements and those being very free feeling. I feel like I'm not interrupted at all by my outerwear when I wear it. It's not just a good looking brand. I can store things in many different places, carry a lot of gear, and it doesn't look bulky. It still looks really good. I particularly love how my legs look because I think some brands can make you, without realizing, look like you have an A-frame going on when actually it's just how the fabric folds and moves makes your legs look a little bit strange. So I love that. And then finally, the, the fabrics, it's a very premium feeling brand. And I know my wife, who's definitely into nice things, she tried on the suit and she said, wow, the fabric does feel really nice to touch. So all those things, I think, what sets Ognjane apart and are what you will notice and feel when you try an Onyone suit on, get on the mountain, do some skiing, and even take some video of yourself. You'll be surprised at how different you look and probably how much better you feel about yourself wearing an Onyone suit.
