Did you know that our brains can only handle about 4 to 7 chunks of information at a time? That's why trying to plan seven steps ahead can be overwhelming and ineffective for many people. Unless you're my wife, who's a master of it, as John Roman put in his book, he's in the front row factor. He said, first we manage the moment. We took one moment at a time and we dealt with the obstacle directly in front of us. Think about that for a moment. When we focus on the present challenges that are right here, we can tackle it with clarity and precision. But when we get ahead of ourselves and we start thinking about things that may be 6, 7, 10 steps ahead and we start worrying about hypothetical problems that may never arise. So maybe let's take a step back, breathe, and focus on the moment right in front of us. Our future selves will thank us.
