Tom Krieglstein describes a flight where the Wi-Fi failed and he realized people complain about missing conveniences while ignoring what they have: altitude, cocktails, hot food. Shifting focus to what's present instead of what's missing builds joy and peace.

Can I share something ridiculous? So I'm on this cross country flight and guess what doesn't work in the airplane? The WI fi. It doesn't work. And then just as I'm about to, like, lose it, I have this moment of like, hey, Tom, shut the F up. You're flying 35,000ft in the air and getting served a cocktail with heated food, and you're gonna complain about the fact that the WI fi doesn't work? Honestly, it's a great reminder that we complain way too much about what we don't have versus what we do have. And the more we focus on what we do have, the better we're going to be able to find joy, peace, and happiness in our own lives. So next time you find yourself complaining about that 35,000ft in the air, WI fi that doesn't work, be like, wtf? Shut the front door.
