Last week, I got something in the mail that shocked me. No, it wasn't a giraffe. No, it was a shark. It was a handwritten letter. I know, I know. It's shocking to think that someone would actually take the time to take a pen, use all those muscles in their hand, and actually write me a personal message, put it into the mail, send, stamp it, and then send it to me. But they did. And when I opened it up, my heart warmed, my vocal cords sang to the choirs. It was amazing how such a simple action changed my attitude, made me feel so much more connected to that individual. This handwritten letter was actually given to me by a community. It's a business community called yec. The things I love about it are. One, it came right away. Within a week, I got this in the mail, which means that they're probably writing this for every person. The second thing is, can you make it hangable? Here at swiftkick, we send out these free hug postcards, and we make a brand new one every year. It's something that people can hang on their wall year over year. And then lastly, make it a habit so that every time there's a new member that joins your organization, make sure to send them that letter, some personal connection to them. Hey, Tom. I'm so excited. I can't believe you love peanut butter as much as I love peanut butter. You want to increase the engagement within your community? Focus on those first 90 days. And one trick to doing that is to send out a handwritten letter. This is Tom helping you engage your people and build that culture of connection. Till next time.
