Tom Krieglstein drove to a second grocery store to use a milk coupon after the first was out of stock. He got a rush from the savings but questions whether the time spent was worth the discount, raising the bigger question of whether couponing makes sense when you could spend that time earning or doing something better.
I had a coupon for a specific type of milk that we often buy. The first grocery store I went to didn't have it in stock so I drove to one nearby and they did have it in stock. I got my discount and it released a little bit of an endorphin party in my body for having found the milk. However the time it took me to find the milk was so not worth the amount of money I saved on that discount. So here's my question to you. Is it worth it to take the extra time to go that second grocery store to have the endorphin party, the celebration in my body for having used the coupon and saved the money or was it a waste of time and it's much better use of that time for me doing something else where I could have made more money or done something else than just drive from grocery store to grocery store.
