For one, we have to consciously and actively take the effort to remember the name that's coming in. Meaning when they say their name, we don't just let it disappear into the ether. We take a moment to process it by saying something like, oh, that's a cool name, or where did you get that name Samantha from? And then let them respond. Take a moment to actually talk with them about their name. If it's a unique name that has a unique spelling, if it's said in a unique way, or if you have a connection to that name, oh, my brother is also named Dan. That's cool. So we have that connection. Those little moments right there will wake our brain up so that we don't just let that information flow through us without getting processed at all. So tip number one, take a moment to remember their name.
