Tom Krieglstein says every yes is a no to something else. He spent three to four hours making a graduation congratulations video, time he couldn't spend on other projects. Before you commit, know what you're giving up.
Just remember that every time you say yes to something, you're unconsciously saying no to something else. Today, I committed to recording a video, editing it, and sharing it with a group that I had worked with last year as part of their graduation celebration. It ended up taking me probably three, four hours to do the whole thing because I really wanted to make it look nice. But by doing that, three, four hours of my time was dedicated to that where I unconsciously was saying no to something else I was working on. So next time you choose to say yes to something, think about what you're unconsciously or consciously saying no to.
