When a facilitator asks for volunteers, extroverts raise their hands while introverts and ambiverts stay quiet, needing time to process before speaking. The result is a skewed picture of what the whole group actually thinks.
Statistically, if we walk into a room and we say, hey, everyone, can you all just share? Let's take some hands, some volunteers. Share what you're feeling right now as you enter into college. Who's going to raise their hand? Not the introverts, maybe the ambiverts, but all we're going to hear from are the extroverts. So if we go right to large group discussion, we're only ever going to hear from the extroverts. And we've also now haven't even given the introverts a chance to process the content.
