Tom Krieglstein graduated from College of Dropouts while friends went to Iowa, Illinois, Columbia, NYU, and MIT. He felt inadequate at the time, but his story explores how he moved past that stigma and self-doubt to embrace growth.
I don't know if you know this, but I actually graduated from COD many years ago. But I wish I could tell you I was excited when I came here, but it felt like you took a step back because I don't know if you know this, but COD is sometimes called the college of dropouts, the college of dreams, the college of delinquents, the college of those who don't make it into a four year institution. That's all I heard. All my friends going off to University of Iowa, University of Illinois. One went to Columbia University, Ivy Leagues in New York, nyu, mit. And I was like, man, they're all heading in this direction. I feel like I'm going in this direction.
