Self Deception

A speaker confesses that he once taught Scripture while missing the Father's heart, mistaking performance for true ministry. He warns against self-deception in faith and urges listeners to build a real relationship with God through prayer and study, not just religious duty, while staying active in church and community.

other people that we aren't taking the time to pay attention to our life. And then it dangerous, man, to— it's very dangerous to be able to counsel with someone and effectively examine the scriptures with them and pray with them and help them see the light and come in agreement with the scriptures while we are not yet in agreement with them. And it's a very dangerous thing, man. But anywho, uh, it's something that we all have to be on guard with, uh, man. Like, we— it's truthfully like you can put in minimum work today and really like teach the Bible per se because just of the access that we have. But now I'm even understanding, you know, my dad's real big and my grandmother was real big on this, that the power is in living it, man. That's where it's really at. Like, yes, we have to know the word. We know the scripture says that, paraphrasing that He told them that you err because you don't know the scriptures. But he also said that, hey, you search the scriptures, but you miss who they testify about. And so yes, I would never go around like the Bible— I love the word of God. But what I'm also challenging us, man, I start with myself, is that make sure that we're not missing out on who the Bible points to. Make sure that we're not walking in self-deception. Because man, it's real out here. And it is some people that I believe, because I was one of them, man. I was so sincere, uh, love people. Well, I thought I did, wanted to see them do better, but I was convinced that I was doing the work of the Lord with the posture of the Lord, and I wasn't. And my last thing is, is that, you know, like, some people call it the prodigal God, some people call it the prodigal son in Luke. But I was like, if you really just spend some time and think about that text, man, just really sit with it, and then it's something. And I don't want to stretch the text and create a proof text or anything like that, but it isn't— it's something to be near to the father, to be in his house, to be in his presence, out in the field doing the work and not have the Father's heart. Like, man, like, that's something that just keeps me grounded, uh, and it does. So anywho, man, I just, just my prayer is that, you know, yes, have a zeal, man. Keep digging into the word of God, keep praying, keep going to your local church, keep connecting with your communities, man. We should, I believe, like, wherever God is leading you, like, yes, your personal vertical Relationship is very important, but don't neglect community, man, because he also works horizontally. But in all of that, and make sure that it's leading you to look like Christ. Like, our Bibles— as much as we said we love God, like, we should be becoming more and more Christlike. And man, so just, just be like Jesus, man. Keep striving, keep working towards it. And I love you all. Uh, anyway, just want to jump on here and share that from my heart as I go pick up Texas Roadhouse for my, my wife and Maybe.
