If you have a trust, are you thinking about creating one? There are certain things you definitely do not want to put in it. Here's a few. Your IRAs, your 401s, your annuities. These do not go into your trust. Most people do not know this. You were to retitle those things in the name of your trust, you would be creating a taxable event for yourself. Leave those assets in your own name and make the trust the beneficiary of those assets. Another would be your life insurance. Life insurance will already pass outside of probate to the beneficiary that you have listed. If you were getting my newsletter that's in my profile link, you'd already know this. So with life insurance, again, you name the trust as the beneficiary, then all those benefits come right into the trust and get distributed according to your master plan.
