If you were prescribed some type of medicine or pill and you took that and it killed you, you better hope that pill was manufactured by the brand name manufacturer. Because in the United States, if you take a prescription drug that kills you and it was made by a generic manufacturer, your case will end up being thrown out of court. So what does that mean? It means that in the United States, where 91% of the drugs that are taken are made by generic manufacturers, none of the people taking those generic drugs would be able to pursue a lawsuit against the manufacturer if they took a drug that caused their death. That's the law as issued by the United States Supreme Court. Even if you could prove that the drug was unsafe, that the company knew it was unsafe, and that it caused death, you would still be thrown out of court. So yes, generic drugs are cheaper, but just remember that if you take generic drugs and something happens to you that's the fault of that drug, your family will have nowhere to go for justice.
