Without a will or trust, a probate judge you've never met decides how your estate gets divided. Jerry Taylor explains why this process is slow, expensive, and stressful, and why you should create a plan now to keep control in your own hands.

If you'd like a total stranger to decide who gets your money and your property after you're gone, all you have to do is die without a will. If you die without a will or a trust and you have property in your name alone, no one can do anything with it until they go to probate court. Your money and your property will have to go through a process called intestate succession in probate court, and a probate court judge will be the one who makes the decisions about your estate. And right here, just let me say that if you want to work with me on these things or get my newsletter, just click on my picture and my link and you can set all those things up. Even if the court decides to give your property and your money to the people that you would have chosen yourself, it's still going to take a lot of time, money, and headache to get through the process. It is easily avoided if you write a will or you create a trust instead of letting a total stranger make these decisions for you. Make these decisions yourself. Create a plan. Write it all down. Make it legal.
