You may have seen some videos lately saying something like this.
Have you guys heard about the new inheritance bill that is passed? And starting January 2026, you will no longer be able to live in your parents' home after they pass away. So according to this bill, you have to have substantial funds in order to pay for the taxes as well.
I'm sure she means well, but there is no current federal law or law that has been passed that bans you from living in an inherited parents' home. Now it is true that if property taxes or mortgages aren't paid, somebody is going to take the house, but that's been true forever and has nothing to do with any new inheritance bill. So no, that is not the law in any US statute, nor is it in any credible proposal for a US statute.
