Jerry Taylor explains how nursing homes use paperwork to make families financially responsible for residents' expenses. They won't force you to sign, but they rarely explain what it means. Taylor is hosting a workshop on protecting yourself from these practices.
While you were frantically trying to find your mom a nursing home like the doctor ordered, the nursing home was hoping you'd be so stressed out you'd sign anything put in front of you so they could hang the bill on you. And without realizing it, you signed as the responsible party for your mom. And now if the money runs out, you're on the hook. The nursing home cannot make you sign that, but they're not going to tell you what it means if you do either. Comment "workshop" and I'll send you a link to sign up for the next one where we're going to talk about all kinds of things like this. And you can also click the link in my bio to register.
