Hey, I'm Vanessa. I'm a licensed sex therapist, and here are three simple mistakes you're making when coming home that are ruining intimacy in your relationship. Mistake number one, you're walking in on your phone. If your eyes are down, you can't even be bothered to make eye contact with your partner. It sends them the message that you care more about a hunk of plastic than you do about them. Mistake number two, you're not greeting them. It takes literally 10 seconds to make eye contact with your partner, give them a hug or a kiss, and ask them a simple question like, how was your day? But that 10 seconds creates a little foundation of connection and intimacy. Mistake number three, you're not asking for alone time is totally understandable if you come home after a long day and you just want a few minutes by yourself to relax and decompress. The key is just tell your partner that and then come back to them and greet them when you're ready for some connection.
