A short YouTube talk by licensed sex therapist Vanessa Marin sharing three personal insights about sexual pleasure from her 20s: (1) difficulty orgasming with a partner doesn't mean something is wrong, (2) faking orgasms prevents learning what you need, and (3) prioritize your own pleasure instead of only your partner's. Hey, my name is Vanessa. I'm a licensed sex therapist. And inspired by these hippos that are mating in the background, I thought I'd share with you three things I wish I knew about my own pleasure when I was in my 20s. Number one, struggling to orgasm with a partner does not mean that anything is wrong with you. There we go. Number one, struggling to orgasm with a partner does not mean that anything is wrong with you. And it does not mean that it is always going to be that way. In my case, all that it meant was that I was prioritizing my partner's pleasure over my own. We'll get back to that one in a minute. Number two, faking orgasm is keeping you from discovering what you need in bed, and it's basically applauding your partner for doing something that doesn't work for you and is never going to work for you. And number three, focus on your own pleasure. I was so caught up in putting on a show and paying more attention to my partner's experience than my own, and I really forgot that sex was supposed to be an enjoyable experience for me, too.
