So you're gonna get married. Congratulations. I'm a couples therapist, and I have three incredibly important topics that you should talk about before you get married. Topic number one, money. This is so important to talk about. You and your partner should share your history with money, the things that you were taught about money, your stories about money, your debts, your goals. Your financial goals. So much good stuff to talk about to make sure that you're on the same page. Topic number two, communication. What's your communication style? What about conflict style? What are your needs, your boundaries around communication? This is a topic that a lot of couples skip, but talking about how you talk to each other is one of the most valuable things that you can do. And this is a lot easier to do when you don't have a different topic that you're trying to discuss at the same time. And topic number three, sex. I wrote a whole book about the five conversations that every couple needs to have to make sure you're on the same page and you're prepared to weather the ups and downs and downs in your sex life that marriage is definitely going to bring. I know these topics don't sound romantic, but it's so important to start creating that communication foundation so that you set yourselves up for success for years and years to come.
